ADULTHOOD STARTS HERE

Eight weeks in England. Ready for whatever's next.

LGN Beyond is a residential programme for 18 to 20-year-olds who’ve finished school. They live on a campus near York, improve their English every day, explore Britain at the weekends and come home more confident, more independent and ready for university, work or whatever comes next.

WHY LGN BEYOND

A course, or the whole experience?

THE CITY NEXT DOOR

York. Two thousand years of history.

One of England's most beautiful and historic cities is a short drive from campus. Roman walls, a Viking past and medieval streets, now full of cafés, bookshops and students. Every Wednesday afternoon a free shuttle takes the group into town.

The Shambles

A medieval street of overhanging timber houses, said to have inspired Diagon Alley in Harry Potter.

York Minster

One of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe, at the heart of the old city.

The city walls

The longest medieval town walls in England, with views over the rooftops.

Viking York

As Jorvik, York was a Viking capital. That story still lives in its streets and museums.

FOR PARENTS

Real independence. With a safety net.

At 18, most young people aren't quite ready to be dropped in a big city and left to get on with it. LGN Beyond is the bridge: the freedom they want, with the structure and support that lets you relax.

Living on site, overnight included.

Staff on every trip

In the same hotel, every weekend away.

Every participant checked

An official police record check for everyone. We cover the cost.

Everything taken care of

FAQ

Good questions

Is €10,900 expensive?

€10,900 is a significant amount of money, and we don’t pretend otherwise. The important thing is to compare the whole experience, not just the headline price.

Many language programmes start with a lower course price, then accommodation, meals, transport, excursions, activities, insurance and other costs are added separately. LGN Beyond is designed differently. Your accommodation, three meals a day on campus, teaching, five two-night city trips with hotel rooms and meal allowances, airport transfers, sports facilities, health insurance, programme support and the core social programme are all included.

Once you arrive, we want you to enjoy the experience — not keep paying to unlock it.

What's included?

Manchester Airport transfers, accommodation, three hot meals a day on campus, all teaching and certificates, five two-night city trips (travel, a single en-suite hotel room and a £150 meal allowance each time), a day at Alton Towers, the free Wednesday shuttle to York, an LGN sweater, T-shirt and notebook, full health insurance, the police record check and all sports facilities. Only flights to the UK and personal spending money are extra.

What level of English is needed?

LGN Beyond is designed for an intermediate level of English (around B1).

If your level is a little lower, just let us know. We can work with you online before the programme, free of charge, so you arrive ready to get the most out of the course. Not sure of your level? Register your interest and we’ll help you check.

Where do participants stay?

At Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate near York, in independent, student-style accommodation on campus: an en-suite room shared with one other participant. On trip weekends everyone has their own en-suite hotel room.

How much freedom do they have?

They’re adults and we treat them that way. Evenings and weekends are mostly free time. On trip weekends we provide the travel and the hotel, then they choose what to do: a football match, a convention, museums or a night out. On campus they have York on Wednesdays, deliveries and a kitchen to cook in. Our team is there for guidance and emergencies, not to check up on them.

Is health insurance included?

Yes. Full health insurance for the whole eight weeks is included in the price, so there's nothing extra to arrange.

Is a visa needed?

Most participants can come on a standard visitor visa, depending on nationality. If a visa is needed, we provide an official invitation letter to support the application. So far, every application supported by our letter has been approved.

If a visa application is ever refused, we refund everything you’ve paid minus a small administration fee. Just send us a copy of the refusal letter.

Why does everyone need a police record check?

Participants spend eight weeks living closely with the same group, and every family deserves to know who that group is. Each participant provides an official police record check from their home country before the programme starts. We help with the application and cover the cost.

How does payment work?

25% is due when you book. The rest can be paid in three equal instalments before August 2027, or all at once if you prefer.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancel more than 90 days before the start and we refund everything except a €500 administration fee. Between 90 and 60 days before, we keep 25% of the price; between 59 and 30 days, 50%; in the last 30 days, the full price. The full terms are in the booking contract.

Who signs the contract?

The person paying signs the booking contract. Every participant also signs a participant agreement and code of conduct, covering personal conduct, respect for others and illegal substances.
